I've applied Laticrete Hydro Ban liquid waterproof membrane to the walls and column insets which will effectively act as a crack isolation membrane.
I'm using Laticrete 254 Platinum polymer modified mortar (white) as a bond coat.
Glass tile expands and contracts more than ceramic or porcelain tile which requires the installation to have a good crack isolation membrane. I'll also be applying at least 2 expansion joints as well as expansion gaps along the perimeters.
I found the best way to attach the tile was to cut and install the metal trim first. It's light and doesn't sag in the mortar and makes a nice edge to hold the tile after a few hours ... or the next day.
Before I grout I'll be cauking the perimeters and half way up the wall inside a grout line to create an expansion gap and joints.
