The concrete is uneven and badly pitted. The easiest and fastest method to level without compromising strength or bond, is to use a self-levelling compound (slc). |
The first thing to do is to paint the surface with a primer recommended by the manufacturer of the SLC. A brush and/or roller will work fine. |
It's important to apply a constant supply of levelling compound until the floor is completely level. Use as many buckets necessary to maintain a steady supply of slc. |
Use the directions on the packaging for proper mixing. |
Before you even begin to mix the compound, make sure all openings such as heating vents, doors and along the walls etc are sealed with caulk, tape, foam, and so forth so that the SLC doesn't seep into places you don't want it to be. Start in the furthest corner and work toward the exit. Pour liberally so that it will flow level. You may have to rake or trowel some of the mixture to create a quicker spread. |

Keep applying until the entire area is level to your satisfaction. |
